Corruption Database

Corruption Database

As part of the implementation of the SICEA Project, activities to identify, collect, and analyze data on court decisions related to corruption cases were carried out in the member countries of the West Africa Regional Hub, including Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Togo.

The purpose of these activities is to provide an evidence-based approach advocacy on anti-corruption in Africa.

For this purpose, a landscape baseline report was developed:

  • Types of corruption to consider and prioritize. (Some jurisdictions have 20+ crimes covered under corruption).
  • Proposed markers to identify corruption cases of particular significance for anti-corruption in their country. (Would it be because of the high-level profile of the accused? The volume of assets involved or seized or recovered, etc.?)
  • Samples of cases considered transformative for anti-corruption in their country, and main features of these cases. (Why?)
  • Feedback on corruption cases related to access to justice for marginalised individuals and groups, in particular women, youth, and persons with disability.
